FAQ - How do I choose the correct Format?

Our royalty free video backgrounds, transitions, fx and overlays are all available in only a few formats:

NTSC - DV	720 x 480, Interlaced	30fps
NTSC - D1	720 x 486, Interlaced	30fps
NTSC - HD	1920 x 1080, Interlaced	30fps
PAL	720 x 576, Interlaced	25 fps

Determining which format above is simple, but to be sure, you'll want to be familiar with your current Non Linear Editing System and software. Check with your NLE software's documentation or tech support, as some DV NLEs accept only DV and cannot handle D1. If you operate on an NLE system that can only handle DV animation or footage, and you try to use D1 animation, you will get some image distortion across the center of your screen during editing and playback. D1 animation has 6 additional scanlines to that of DV, 486 to 480 respectively. Those 6 extra scanlines can cause havoc when you try to squeeze a D1 background onto an NLE system only capable of working with DV, or 480 scanlines. If you are using an NLE system capable of working with D1 / 486, you will most likely be able to use BOTH D1 and DV.

We only offer 2 FILE FORMATS: - Quicktime or Microsoft AVI.

Our Quicktime files are processed for broadcast and corporate video productions. They have next to no compression, and are color correct. We also interlace them giving you a file needing NO MORE processing. You get a "drag and drop" file that looks great and has the required standards of the NTSC for television broadcast.

Our AVI files are for computer display. If you are producing a video needing a compact, compressed output file size that will be projected via laptop or workstation, and want real time playback, you'll want to use our AVI Files. They are compressed and will actually play right on your desktop - depending on your system. Most NLE systems will offer you real time playback, again, depending on your system. Though these AVI files are NOT designed for desktop playback, they do offer you a lighter file, faster playback and easy protability. With this compression, you will be sacrificing some image quality. AVI files are for computer use only and are NOT recommended for broadcast or corporate video productions.
